The Boldness of the Godly

Proverbs 28:1 states, “The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.” This verse highlights the stark contrast between the actions of the wicked and the godly.

When faced with adversity or the fear of being caught, the wicked choose to flee, even when there is no immediate threat. Their guilty conscience and fear of consequences drive them to constantly look over their shoulder, always on the run.

On the other hand, the godly are described as being as bold as lions. They do not cower in fear or allow themselves to be intimidated. Their faith and trust in God give them the confidence to stand firm in the face of challenges. They are not easily swayed by the opinions of others or the pressures of the world.

Being bold as lions does not mean the godly are reckless or impulsive. Rather, it signifies their unwavering commitment to righteousness and their refusal to compromise their values. They are not afraid to speak the truth, even when it is unpopular, and they are willing to take a stand for justice and righteousness.

As believers, we are called to emulate the boldness of the godly. We are called to stand firm in our faith, even when the world around us may try to intimidate or silence us. Our boldness should be rooted in our trust in God and His promises, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.

So, let us be like the godly, bold as lions, unafraid to live out our faith and make a difference in the world.
